Serum haptoglobin is a normal fraction of serum proteins which was maded by Polonovski and Jaylein 1938.
In this study, changes of serum haptoglobin levels were investigated in infectious diseases, most of which were found in pediatric age group, infectioushepatitis and acute glomerulone phritis.
The levels were determined with the Shim¢¥s paperelec trophoretic and densitometric method using ammoni buffer of pH 7.3(isotonic strength 0.1)
In all of the infectious diseases, the serum haptoglobin levels were above normal value, regardless ofviral or bacteriat.
On the other hand, in the acute stage of infectious hepatitis and acute glomerulonephritis, the levels werebelow normal, but in recovery, all of the cases show edincrease of serum haptoglobin lovels.
